North Sea Observatory

Client: Gelder Group

Award-winning construction company Gelder Group recruited ScrewFast to design and install foundations to support the North Sea Coastal Observatory at Chapel St Leonards in Skegness. The ScrewFast Foundations helical pile solution ensured there was no requirement to excavate, or remove spoil from this remote coastal location.

68 Helical Piles with 68 top hats and 13 extension legs were installed to various depths between 7 – 14m in just 12 shifts, plus an 18 hour pile test. The quick and simple installation method required a single plant Operator and 2 Installers, with one of the Installers acting as a Banksman.
